Environment 2: The Last Shift
In this environment, we were given free creative control to decide what kind of room we wanted to build and what we wanted to put in it. I had chosen to create a 1990s office cubicle that has undergone a troubling incident. It is left up to the viewer to piece together what happened in this office based on the evidence left in the scene.
Leading up to the creation of the room, we were tasked with making thumbnail sketches to envision what the actual room would look like. In my sketches, I play around with the furniture to figure out how to make the office space seem claustrophobic, chaotic, and messy. My sketches also include objects I wanted to put in the room. I wanted them to make the room feel older by modeling outdated technology and furniture, as well as make the room feel personal by adding a picture frame.
